The names have been split into alaphbetical order, for ease of reference, click on the letter below to proceed to the required surname.

When using this index, please note that names appear as in the book itself. As a consequence:

• Titles and nicknames may be included in the given name. The terms “junior” and “senior” may appear; their interpretation is relative to the time frame.
• Surnames are given as in the book and therefore may be either a maiden or married surname for women.
• Given the period of time spanned by the book, many surnames may appear under a variety of spellings, especially phonetic spellings and Latinised spellings (used in medieval times). In some cases, the surname may contain a prefix such as “de”, “della”, “le” etc.
• Some early names have no surname.
• Generally, there has been no attempt to determine if two uses of the same name refer to the same person. Hence a person may be indexed many times. In Wilshamstead, the same names are often re-used in many generations of a family.
